Update 36.2 is Here: Key Gameplay Changes, aespa Collaboration, and New Clan Features
The latest major update for PUBG: Battlegrounds, version 36.2, has been rolled out, bringing a host of significant changes and new content to the game. From crucial gameplay adjustments to a high-profile collaboration with K-Pop group aespa, here’s a summary of everything you need to know.
Key Gameplay Adjustments
Based on extensive community feedback, several core gameplay mechanics have been tweaked, affecting both Normal Matches and Ranked play.
- Red Zone Nerf: In a long-requested change, the Red Zone will no longer appear from Phase 3 onwards on the maps Erangel, Deston, and Taego. This aims to reduce random deaths in the crucial mid-to-late game.
- BRDM-2 Changes: The armored amphibious vehicle has received a nerf. Both its maximum speed and its overall durability have been reduced, making it a less oppressive force on the battlefield.
- C4 Reduction: The world spawn amount of C4 has been decreased on all 8x8 km maps, making the powerful explosive a rarer commodity.
- Vehicle Camo Netting Buff: The durability of the Vehicle Camo Netting has been increased, and its weight has been reduced from 20 to 15. It has also been added to the loot pools of Rondo and Taego.
PUBG x aespa Collaboration
A major highlight of this patch is the collaboration with the popular K-Pop group aespa. The world of PUBG has been infused with their signature style.
- Map Updates: Buildings across various maps have been updated with aespa-themed decorations, and mysterious concert arenas have appeared in Miramar.
- Emote Stages: Special stages have been added to the starting islands of all 8x8 km maps. Performing a PUBG x aespa emote on these stages will trigger a music video from the group.
- Themed Items: Expect to see aespa-themed Care Packages, planes, and new cosmetic items available for a limited time in the Workshop.
New Clan System Features
The Clan system has been expanded to foster more internal competition and recognition.
- Member Rankings: A new tab allows clan members to track weekly rankings based on their contributions to challenges and their total weekly Clan XP.
- Members of the Week: The top-ranking players in each category will be crowned "Members of the Week," receiving special recognition on the clan page.
Update 36.2 is a substantial patch that addresses key community concerns while introducing fun, new content. The adjustments to the Red Zone and BRDM, in particular, are likely to have a significant impact on the meta in both casual and competitive play.
